As an Senior Network Engineer, a typical day might include the following:
- Be our hands-on expert for our core network (building, monitoring and maintaining)
- Troubleshooting and resolving 2nd/3rd line support escalations
- Planning and designing wireless links and fibre routes
- Visiting our various POP sites and data centres to maintain our core network
- Setting up and testing new customer deployments
- Setting up public/private peering with other networks
- Participate in 24×7 on-call rotations with our other staff
- Researching and developing new products and ideas
- Creating/updating documentation of our ever expanding network
- Brainstorming with fellow Engineers to come up with new ideas for making Baltic Broadband ever better!
Ideally, you’ll be a Network/Internet Engineer with 5+ years’ experience in a Service Provider environment, but we may consider less.
This Job might be for you if:
You hold a valid UK driving licence and don’t mind being on call for emergencies
You are a Subject-matter expert in core networking principles and protocols such as BGP, OSPF, VLAN, QoS, GRE, IP SEC, DNS (Essential Requirement)
Have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university or can demonstrate experience working to that level (Essential Requirement)
Have a CCNA certification, or can demonstrate experience working to that level (switches, firewalls and routers) (Essential Requirement)
Have work experience in data center, telecom, SaaS, or cloud operations companies
