2.5 years ago, we built a 6800 sqft data centre by Princes Dock in Liverpool in order to cater for the growing demand for local data centre space.
We’re really pleased to see we’ve sold the last rack space available and are now completely full and have had to establish a waiting list for customers needing space.
Although we do have smaller data centres around the region, seeing our biggest facility maxed out is a great testament to the whole team at Baltic Broadband & LCRDC.
From streaming applications (TV Stations, Radio Stations), financial services, and games companies to marine environmental monitoring, weather applications, 5G, autonomous vehicle and drone control systems, content delivery systems direct to cinema, robotics and AI and even other ISP’s, it’s great to see how our customers are using the space for so many different types of colocation.
It’s also great to work with so many local IT companies who are moving their customers from the expensive cloud, back to bare metal servers in our data centres, especially for data hungry, latency sensitive and mission critical applications.
It’s a game changer these days because customers can also enjoy ultra-fast 10Gbps network access from their office to the DC via our fast dual fibre and wireless network that circle the region, while having their kit close to them.
Of course, not all applications suit a data centre, and are better off in the cloud, but it’s interesting to see the growing demand at a local and national level of data centre space.
It’s a good job we’ve got plans for more space this year!
